Description

The greatest losses in Fd feasibility is on wet rich (D6) sites, around the Prince George region, Rocky Mountain Trench, and central interior.

West and north of Prince George, SBSdw3 experiences a loss of Fd feasibility on D6 sites. SBSdw3/08 (D6) – shifts to ICHdw4 (Fd = 2 or 0 depending on site series), ICHdw3 (Fd = 2) and ICHmw3 (Fd = 2 or 0 depending on site series).

Sites that are future climate analogs=wetter. Becoming too wet for Fd on D6 sites (e.g. ICHdw4). Fd is less competitive under productive sites.

In the northern section of the Rocky Mountain Trench feasibility of Fd is lost on D6 site types. SBSdh1/07 – shifts to climate of ICH units. (ICHmw3 = Fd is feasible, ICHdw4 and dw3 = Fd is feasible in some D6 site series).

Seems strange that Fd would be declining in feasibility on wet rich sites (where it currently exists) as climate warms. Perhaps an artefact of the units that are being projected.

Research direction

Start with the issue body and its figures, focusing on the projected Fd feasibility changes for D6 sites in SBSdw3/08 and SBSdh1/07. Trace how the climate analogs and site units are projected, then compare the results with the stated current feasibility. Done means determining whether the decline is an artefact and documenting the required correction or explanation.
