Description

A rare ecosystem restricted to the southern portion of the province similar to the 112 but dominated by different species. Sx is still the dominant tree species but Bl and Pl may also be present. Water table remains near the surface during the growing season.

Model shows sharp decline for Sx Bl and Pl over time with no other species increasing in suitability. I really dont understand why this site series is so different from the 112 unit given the similarity in edaphic conditions. Sx will likely be maintained on these sites as the most suitable species adapted to cold and wet conditions.

Research direction

Review the MSxk1/113 site-series entry and compare its model results with the similar 112 unit, focusing on the reported decline of Sx, Bl, and Pl. Done means determining whether the contrasting suitability trend is expected or identifying the data or model issue responsible.
