Below taken from the GLMM FAQ webpage is the confidence interval plot from model fm1 with nlme, using the Orthodont data set:
I ran the code and got a plot below:
The difference between the two plots is not very apparent, but still noticeable upon a careful comparison. The one I generated seems to match better with the plot for the same data by lme4 in the FAQ document.
