Add password protection in console sessions

It currently asks for a name to log info, but with multiple folks having access any one can use anyone's name. Would be great to have a password issued to each user so they can use to only login using their password.

Start by tracing the console session login flow described in the issue, especially where it currently asks for a user's name. Determine how user credentials would be issued and checked, then define completion as allowing access only when the supplied password matches the user; the issue does not name files or tests.
