Description
In my use case, I want to keep the repository on Github while storing LFS data in S3. The package currently requires S3 remote configured, and this conflicts with the setup.
It would be great to be able to configure LFS URL separately from the remote.

Research direction
The payload names no files or tests; start by tracing how the package currently requires an S3 remote and how its LFS URL is configured. Done means a GitHub repository remote can be used while LFS data is directed to S3 independently, with coverage for the separate configuration.
