Description

Hi,

When I try install rke2 with eks-distro. I have to install all component manually(canal,coredns,metrics-server etc.).

I talked to rke2 side and In summary they said;"We are use version gate with semantic versioning in helm charts for upgrade phase. If you wish to open an issue, I would do so with the EKS maintainers" and I'm here now :) :)

Eks distro is use like that for versioning "v1.26.6-eks-3316523". Can you change this to be SemVer compatible?

Research direction

Start by locating the Helm charts and the versioning or upgrade constraints that consume EKS-D versions such as v1.26.6-eks-3316523. Compare those constraints with Semantic Versioning expectations and identify the affected component charts. Done means EKS-D versions are accepted during upgrade installation without requiring components to be installed manually.
