Description

Developers prefer to let an AI agent handle tasks while they focus on other work simultaneously. However, Q Developer currently asks for manual approval every time it uses a shell function, which is quite a repetitive and tedious task for me.

This manual intervention contradicts the original purpose of using an AI agent. If there are concerns regarding security or safety, I suggest implementing a feature like GitHub Copilot’s "Auto-approve for the current session." This would allow the system to proceed autonomously once I have explicitly granted permission for that specific session.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating the Q Developer shell-task approval flow and its session state, then determine how an explicit session-level approval should be represented and cleared. Done means shell tasks can proceed without repeated prompts only for the approved session, while the existing safety boundary remains clear.
