Description
That's right. Now that they've removed the Claude Sonet 3.7 option, the Claude Sonet 4 alternative is useless. It doesn't give correct answers unless you waste a lot of time explaining things to it in other ways. It doesn't read the available code unless you explicitly ask it to. Claude Sonet 3.7 had the initiative to search for the code it needed to understand. This other one is useless. Even with the code on the screen (active file), it offers solutions to problems using the same code you already have!
In short, they should leave the option to continue with Claude Sonet 3.7 or find some other alternative (Amazon Q or me).

Research direction
The issue names no source files, tests, or entry points. Start by locating where the Claude model options are configured in the VS Code extension, then reproduce the reported behavior with the active file and compare the available model choices. Done would mean providing a supported alternative or restoring a selectable Claude Sonnet 3.7 option, with the behavior covered by an appropriate test.
