Description
(This is just a tracking issue to gauge interest; please upvote 👍 and/or comment if you are using tools that implement MCP or another "AI context protocol".)
## Problem
External tools can't send (nor receive) context to Amazon Q in VSCode. This reduces opportunities to integrate with customer tools, especially if more tools adopt a "standard" context protocol.
## Expected behavior
Implement a standard protocol such as https://modelcontextprotocol.io/ :
> The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open protocol that enables seamless integration between LLM applications and external data sources and tools. ... MCP provides a standardized way to connect LLMs with the context they need.

This tracking issue names no source files, tests, or entry points. Start by reading the linked Model Context Protocol specification and reviewing how the VSCode extension currently exchanges context with Amazon Q. Done means external tools can send and receive context through a supported standard protocol.
