Description

A lot of bugs are there. I am a Programmer Analyst-II/Senior Developer. I worked in .net core using Visual Studio 2022 and 2026. I have licensed version of AmazonQ provided by company. I am facing a lot of issues with AmazonQ now a days. When I started to work with this AI then I was very happy that just give the prompt to agent what you needed and it will generate the code for you in your IDE files. But from last month It is asking me for permission. Whenever I gave a prompt to the Agent to do saome code changes or generate some code files then it asked me for permission. First it ask prmission to read the file and displayed an "allow" button in chat window for ebery file, if I asked me that read my rpject strucrure and files then it gives me allow button for every files and folders. and after that if I asked the agent to make soem changes then it again ask me for permission for respective files and folders. If I said that use different approach then it uses some fsRead type shell command and give me a prompt to run that, I can run the prompt once, but for a project on every file and every folder nobody can click on run button again and again. I rememebred that for a single changed I clicked more than 500 times to allow and run to complete the change by AI agent. If I do that I can finish that in 5 minutes, but AI agent take more than 2 hours to finish that, just because of allow and run clicks. And after that chat window window is full prompt again click to compact that, if I given any command during compact session then it again give prompt to compact, again click. Finaly whole chat window hangs out and slow down, and that time you have only 1 option to close the whole project and reopen it after 2-3 minutes then it started to work. So my overall experince is very worst and bad with AmazonQ. Please check which kind of bug you left in the Agent Codes. Today I asked that which version of Visual Studio I am using, it given me answer that As per my knowledge latest version is Visual Studio 2022, while I am giving prompt from Visual Studio 2026. So overall your agents does not have fully updated knowldge base, update them, and fix such kind of bugs/errors so that Developer can do their task kalmly. I am totally frusted with AmazonQ beacuse my mist of time is going in just clicking, If I am using an AI Agent, then offcourse if it is integrated in IDE then it should have full access to every file and folder in that project, but it ask permission for every file by asking that it is outside of my workspace, while file is present in project itself.

Research direction

The report names no source files, tests, or reproducible project. Start by reproducing the repeated permission prompts and chat slowdown in Amazon Q within Visual Studio; done should mean identifying a specific failing behavior and a focused fix, with regression coverage where applicable.
