Description

Environment:

OS: Windows 11

Workspace: .NET 10 MAUI project (~medium size) visual studio 26

Mode: Agentic coding ON

Symptoms:

Chat responses freeze mid-stream

Tool calls (executeBash, file reads) time out and never return

Three parallel executeBash calls all failed simultaneously with "Tool use was cancelled by the user" even though user did NOT cancel — they just stopped responding

Happens repeatedly, not a one-off

Reproduction:

Open workspace with a .NET MAUI project

Use Amazon Q Chat in agentic mode

Send messages / let it execute tool calls

Chat freezes — no response, UI becomes unresponsive

Expected: Chat and tool calls complete normally
Actual: Hangs indefinitely, tool calls silently fail

Research direction

Reproduce the hang in Visual Studio 26 on Windows 11 with a medium .NET 10 MAUI workspace and Agentic coding enabled. Start by collecting the AWS Toolkit logs referenced in the issue while testing chat responses, file reads, and executeBash calls. Done means the cause of the repeated freezes and cancelled tool calls is identified and normal completion is restored.
