Description
After upgrading to version 1.100.2 of the Amazon Q Extension for VS Code, the extension stopped functioning properly. Although I was previously able to use it with a Pro license, the new version no longer allows me to log in. While I can enter the start URL, the browser does not open to complete the login process, even though the extension prompts me to continue authentication in the browser.
Additionally, installing Amazon Q seems to disrupt the overall functionality of VS Code—none of the other extensions or basic features work correctly after installation.

Research direction
No files, tests, or entry points are identified in the issue. Start by reproducing the failed browser-based login with VS Code 1.100.2 and the Amazon Q extension, then check whether installing it also breaks other extensions and basic VS Code features. Done means authentication completes and the reported VS Code functionality remains usable.
