[FEATURE] What would it take to get write support enabled?

Just curious -- I'm sure it's a decent chunk of work but I have a usecase for this, and if I'm capable of implementing it, I may give it a shot.

Done would require a defined scope for write support, an implementation plan, and validation that supported write statements work through the driver.
