Description

doing some research into lithium cells recently, its clear that they could offer significant benefits to the rig. I was looking at some options and one that piqued my interest more than doubled our storage capacity, but arguably more importantly, it was a fraction of the weight of our current batteries.

The heaviest part of the rig currently, is easily the batteries which currently weigh ~8kgs. the lithium cell batteries according to the information on the site had the collective system weighing just over 1kg. the cost of all those cells was only about $50 more than our current set-up.

This is by no means a high priority upgrade at this stage, but buoyancy is starting to become a factor for consideration and if it we're forced to look for means to increase the rigs buoyancy, this is the low-hanging fruit which has the highest benefit-cost ratio, as a result of the substantial weight decrease and ridiculous increase of power storage

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reviewing the rig's current battery setup and the proposed lithium-cell configuration, then establish whether the capacity, weight, cost, buoyancy, and safety claims are suitable; done is not defined in the issue.
