Wetmate: Plate-mounted variants

The current wetmate connectors join two cables, much like Andersen plugs.

Plate-mounted variants that could be integrated into the flat end of a battery compartment or peripheral would be very useful. Peripherals could then be shipped without cables.

It might also be possible to integrate a plate-mounted variant into a future version of the mast seal, similar to the way the POE connections are plate mounted. This might require a larger surface area though, i.e., a larger diameter mast.
