Description

I would like to filter in the query_region step of my code to search for JWST spectroscopy for my favorite sample of galaxies. However the current documentation just tells me I can filter on any of the 258 columns available in that table. Please suggest some useful columns to users to get the juices flowing on how we might filter effectively.

Currently my favorite sample of galaxies is just a few galaxies, but I would like to increase this to a few thousand, along with downloading the data. This is the reason for the need for efficiency gains in the query_region step.

Thanks to @snbianco for suggesting using the columns called out in the JWST search for UI : https://mast.stsci.edu/search/ui/#/jwst

Research direction

Start at the documentation for MastMisions.query_region and compare its available filter columns with the fields highlighted in the linked JWST search UI. Identify useful columns for JWST spectroscopy and explain them with filtering examples; done means users can choose practical filters for larger galaxy samples and understand the efficiency benefit.
