One big question I have (considering our view requirement) is; how we lay out the data on disk?

Do we use files? LevelDB? Snapshottable filesystem? Am I even asking the right question? :see_no_evil:

Compare the mentioned options—files, LevelDB, and a snapshottable filesystem—against that requirement. The issue does not define an implementation entry point or completion criteria, so the design needs agreement before coding can start.
