Description

I am interested in having the ArduinoCore Mbed include support for JPEG hardware encode/decode for STM32H7 based MCUs. I attempted to implement it using the OpenMV code or directly from the STM32CubeH7 examples, but they were unsuccessful with Mbed. With the introduction of the Giga R1 Display shield, direct support of this functionality is necessary to decode 800x480 pixels large images.

Research direction

Start by comparing the attempted OpenMV implementation with the STM32CubeH7 JPEG examples and the ArduinoCore Mbed integration points for STM32H7-based MCUs. Determine the required Mbed support for the Giga R1 Display shield and define completion as hardware JPEG encode/decode working for 800x480 images.
