The compiler used is a really old version gcc 9.x. Is there a reason for this? Can we maybe upgrade to a newer release? arm does provide official packages all the way up to gcc 14

Research direction
Start by locating the build configuration that selects GCC 9.x and review how the ARM compiler package is obtained. Check the available GCC 14 packages and project compatibility, then build the core and run its available validation checks to confirm the newer compiler works without regressions.
