Description

Arduino Beta 1.0.0-Beta MAC OS X
Using a AVR Mega2560

Can program device just fine. Can read board info fine. But when I attempt to open the serial monitor I get a port open error.

I noticed the port on the Mac is /dev/tty.usbmodem..... but the error tells me that it cannot open /dev/tty.cu.usbmodem.... So there appears to be a port naming issue?

Opening the file on a current version of the Arduino IDE, the Serial monitor works fine.
Note: I switched to Beta because the released version suffered random crashes.

Research direction

No files, tests, or entry points are named in the report. Start by reproducing the serial-monitor failure with an AVR Mega2560 on Mac OS X and compare the reported /dev/tty.usbmodem and /dev/cu.usbmodem paths; done means the beta serial monitor opens the board's port successfully.
