Description

On a 4k laptop screen (Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen2 - Ubuntu 19.10) the application menu font is unable to be configured/scaled.

The interface scaling gives a legible editor, console and toolbar. But the application menus themselves are not affected and remain at a point size too small to see easily (Or at all if it's more than 100mm away)

Research direction

Reproduce the issue in Arduino IDE 1.8.10 on Ubuntu 19.10 with a 4K ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen2 display, comparing the scalable editor, console, and toolbar with the application menus. Trace the existing interface-scaling behavior and determine how menu font size is handled; done means the menus are legible at the same scaling level.
