*.pdf_tex figures not displayed in HTML

Figures created using Inkscape and saved as *.pdf_tex with corresponding *.pdf are not displayed in the HTML view.
In TeX, they are imported using:
'\import{figures}{figure_name.pdf_tex}'
and stored in a folder 'figures'.
