Citations with theapa.sty

### Description

Following a odd character in place of a citation (?,?,?), the text is highlighted in an odd beige color for the remainder of the document. Using firefox on windows. I don't believe I have a darkmode plugin but the site is in dark mode and I cannot see where to change it.
