Custom Symbol defined by authors does not render correctly

### Description

It seems as if the selected symbol was defined in the original LaTeX by putting together two other symbols (in this case the goal was a vee curling to the left). But these two symbols do not meet as expected in the rendered HTML and pretty difficult to read (also see the similarly broken curly wedge just below).
