\cite with text not supported in html?

### Description

When using \cite{[{text1}][{text2}]citekey}, as now recommended by APS journals, the html render does not correctly render the reference as a number [n] in the text mapping to [n] text1 bibitem text2. Instead, the text contains [[text1][text2]bibkey]
