**Description**: Choice to write out references in long form

I understand that HTML is not meant to look exactly like PDF, but I find the choice to write out first-author/year pairs for each reference an odd one. If you have a paragraph like the one highlighted with many references (which high energy physics papers very often have) it makes the actual text of the paragraph very hard to read, at least to my eyes. I see little benefit to the reader as the paper is not identifiable anyway from this info.
