Description

After reinstalling an app that includes the Live Caller ID Lookup extension, iOS Settings sometimes fails when enabling or disabling the extension.

I have seen this happen in both directions: enabling the extension can fail, and disabling the extension can fail.

When it fails, iOS Settings shows an error popup:

The issue does not happen every time, so the exact trigger is unclear. In my testing, I have been reinstalling the app sometimes from the App Store and sometimes locally from Xcode, so the issue may be related to reinstalling the same app through different installation sources.

The workaround has been to uninstall the app, **reboot the device**, and then install the app again. After doing that, enabling and disabling the Live Caller ID Lookup extension works normally again.

I am opening this here mainly as a note for other developers implementing the Live Caller ID lookup feature. I don't think it's an issue in the example PIRService.

Research direction

No source files or tests are identified. Reproduce the failure by reinstalling the app from the App Store and from Xcode, then try enabling and disabling the Live Caller ID Lookup extension in iOS Settings; compare the behavior with the documented reboot-and-reinstall workaround.】【。}
