Intellij not finding beans and grails services

Intellij recognizes any beans defined as a grails service or any beans defined in resources.xml. But the component-scan beans are not found, so auto-complete does not work.

The application is a grails/gradle project. A sample project and screen shots attached.

Start by reproducing the missing component-scan beans in the attached sample Grails/Gradle project and review the linked IntelliJ discussion. Done means IntelliJ recognizes those beans and provides autocomplete, matching the behavior already seen for Grails services and resources.xml beans.
