### Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.
Trying to run container image that was built for AMD64 on a Mac. Importing `pyarrow` crashes the process.
Repro steps:
* `podman run --arch amd64 python:3.11-slim bash -c 'pip install pyarrow==20.0.0; python -c "import pyarrow"'`
