Source Code Markdown Doesn't Work

Consider using the Showdown markdown driver that you can pull off of Github.

I tried to create a source code block with the 3 backticks on a single line, some source code, followed by 3 more backticks. When I clicked preview, it almost worked but appended a '<' character on the line below the code block, oddly enough.
