Description

## Bug Report

**Platform:** Linux x86_64
**Distro:** CachyOS
**Kernel:** 7.1.8-1-cachyos
**glibc:** 2.44
**Node.js:** v26.7.0
**npm:** 12.0.2

## Description

Claude Code crashes immediately with `SIGSEGV` on startup when running any version newer than `2.1.139`. The crash happens before any output is produced, even with `--version`.

## Steps to Reproduce

```sh
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code@latest
claude --version
# fish: Job 1, 'claude --version' terminated by signal SIGSEGV
```

Running the native binary directly also crashes:

```sh
~/.npm-global/lib/node_modules/@anthropic-ai/claude-code/node_modules/@anthropic-ai/claude-code-linux-x64/claude --version
# exit code 139
```

## Additional Info

- Version `2.1.139` works correctly on the same system.
- All shared libraries resolve correctly via `ldd`.
- `node` itself works fine (no crash).
- `objdump -p` on the new binary also crashes with SIGSEGV, suggesting the binary may be triggering a kernel-level memory protection.

## Workaround

Pin to version `2.1.139`:

```sh
npm install -g --allow-scripts=@anthropic-ai/claude-code @anthropic-ai/claude-code@2.1.139
```

Research direction

Reproduce the crash with `claude --version` and the native binary at `~/.npm-global/lib/node_modules/@anthropic-ai/claude-code/node_modules/@anthropic-ai/claude-code-linux-x64/claude` on the reported CachyOS kernel. Compare versions 2.1.139 and newer using `ldd` and `objdump -p`; done means startup and `--version` no longer terminate with SIGSEGV.
