ability to control where dropped images are inserted

Ideally we'd show a cursor and the user could choose exactly where the drop goes. IIRC, in 2.1.49 the image was inserted at the cursor position prior to dropping, which at least let them choose the position in advance. Supporting some way of controlling the location would be nice (in the mean time, copy+paste is still an option)
