Description

Dear ExoPlayer Team,

I am writing to request a feature that would greatly enhance the user experience for many viewers: the ability to customize the font of subtitles within the ExoPlayer.
Currently, while ExoPlayer offers excellent support for various subtitle formats, there is no built-in option for users to change the font family of the displayed subtitles. This can be a significant accessibility issue and a matter of personal preference for many individuals.
The ability to select different font styles would allow users to:

  • Improve readability based on their visual needs.
  • Match subtitle aesthetics to their personal preferences.
  • Potentially address issues with specific font rendering on different devices.
Implementing this feature could involve adding options within the player's settings or through a dedicated subtitle configuration menu. Users could then choose from a selection of standard fonts or potentially even load custom font files.
Thank you for considering this request. I believe that adding subtitle font customization would be a valuable addition to ExoPlayer and would be appreciated by a wide range of users.

Sincerely, Thanasis.
