Description

          > We plan to eventually have a PSR-7 adpter on top of our current API, but we don't plan to make our API directly depend on PSR-7 here.

Research direction

Review the current HTTP server API and the PSR-7 adapter requirement described in the issue. Clarify the adapter's scope and acceptance criteria with maintainers before making changes; done means providing PSR-7 support without making the server API directly depend on PSR-7.
