Linking back to first slide using navigation and menu

My first section uses a slider. Once I've advanced to any slide other than the first/default slide I cannot use the menu or navigation to return to the first/default slide. I can see that this is because the anchor for all of the slides is the same (only the /# changes). Is there a way to return to the first slide in a section when you are already in that section from the menu and nav?
