Description

## Spark

Marked Finished in the Media Log during the digest check-in, week of
2026-08-08. Follows the same shape as #428 (Clarkesworld 2026-07).

## Why it could be interesting

A review answers one question: recommend it or not, and why. For a short-fiction
issue the recommendation is rarely for the whole issue — it's usually one or two
stories carrying it, which makes the interesting claim about what this issue was
*doing*, and whether the selection hangs together as an issue rather than as a
pile of individually-acquired stories.

## Open questions

- [ ] Which stories carry the recommendation? Name them before drafting; a
review of an anthology that doesn't single anything out isn't a review.
- [ ] Is there an argument about the issue as a whole, or only about its parts?
The former is a better post; the latter is honest if that's what's true.
- [ ] Does the 2026-07 review (#428) establish a running comparison, and is that
a feature or a rut? Two issue-reviews in a row invites a format.
- [ ] Spoiler handling for short fiction — the review skill's rule applies, but
short stories break more easily than novels.
