## Spark

Marked Finished in the Media Log during the 2026-08-08 digest check-in, in the
same week as *The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England* —
two of Sanderson's four Secret Project books back to back.

## Why it could be interesting

Candidate angle, not yet settled: this is the Secret Project that sits latest
in the shared cosmology and leans hardest on it, which makes it a test of
whether a book can be both an entry point and a payoff. If the Cosmere
knowledge is load-bearing, the recommendation is conditional and the review is
really about when a shared universe stops being a bonus and becomes a
prerequisite. If it stands alone, that's the more interesting claim and the
harder one to defend.

## Open questions

- [ ] Recommend it or not, and to whom — does the recommendation come with a
reading-order caveat?
- [ ] Is the connective tissue rewarding or load-bearing? The review hinges on
which.
- [ ] Reading it immediately after *The Frugal Wizard* is a tonal whiplash —
does that comparison sharpen the take or just pad it?
- [ ] Hold for a combined Secret Projects piece once *Tress* and *Yumi* are
finished, or review standalone now?
