Description

I am using macOS 12.7.1 (Monterey) with an iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 17.1.2. I am currently getting the error attached below when trying to enable JIT over USB with AltServer. I have a hunch that it has to do with macOS 12.7.1 not being Xcode 15 compatible (which is needed for iOS 17 development). I wasn't sure if there is a work around, or if macOS 12.7.1 needed to be labeled as "incompatible" for JIT on iOS17.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the JIT-over-USB attempt with macOS 12.7.1, iOS 17.1.2, and AltServer, then trace how the Developer Disk image download URL is determined. Check whether the failure is caused by the macOS/Xcode compatibility described in the report. Done means the error has a confirmed cause and either a working workaround or an explicit compatibility limitation.
