History loses current text

**User Issue**

Helping here a child go through the course. In shell, once I type something, if I hit the UP arrow accidentally, the text is replaced by the previous history item, and what I typed is lost. It would be nice if hitting DOWN let me come back to what I had (in the absence of any edits).
