Search Engine or URL Prediction:
Most modern browsers have a feature called "omnibox" that combines the address bar and search bar. The browser might predict that you want to search for something based on your browsing history, bookmarks, or popular searches.

Communication with the DNS (Domain Name System):
If you didn't provide a full URL, the browser needs to determine the IP address associated with the domain. It sends a request to the DNS server to translate the domain name (e.g., google.com) into an IP address.
