How to customize filter text box styles and get alternate row colors

Hi Friends, can someone help me with the following?

1) How to customize filter text box styles alone, without touching the header styles? I want filter text box font size to be little smaller than the header text since they dont fit in. I tried something like :host /deep/ th.ng2-smart-th{ , but it affects both header and filter text box. Can you pls help me with updating style for only the filter textboxes?

2) How to achieve alternate row colors for table rows?
