How can external contributors help ?

I really like the way this project is beeing written and I share almost all the complaints towards existing DBs, however I feel a bit lost when it comes to a todo list. Would it be possible to either:
- mark the low hanging fruits as such in the given github issues ?
- comment small tasks in given existing PRs to enable new comers (or potential learning contributors) to participate ?

thanks again for this project. And by the way the doc is -already- really good, but mostly for users.
