It's come up before in development, and we even added pull resistor (pull-up/down) options to some more popular / generic digitial input components, but the real fix is to have actual dedicated generic Digital Input & Output (eventually for DACs) component entries, with all the configuration options.

This will be similar to the generic Analog Input component we already have.

Start by locating and reviewing the existing generic Analog Input component, then compare it with the component definitions for digital input and output.
