Description
Dear maintainers/support team,
I am currently unable to approve or merge a critical pull request in this repository because our previous code owner/admin recently passed away. I do not have sufficient permissions to update branch protection rules or CODEOWNERS, and urgent work is blocked.
Could you please assist in:
- Granting me admin or code owner access
- Updating branch protection or CODEOWNERS so I can complete pending merges
- Advising on the fastest way to resolve this situation
Thank you very much for your prompt attention at this difficult time.

Research direction
This is an access and repository-governance request rather than a scoped code change. Start with the repository maintainers or support team and review the branch protection and CODEOWNERS settings named in the issue; done means appropriate access is restored or a documented path for pending merges is provided.
