Descrizione
Right now 608 of the verified author IDs are derived from ORCIDs. We prefer to use a human-readable suffix based on the degree institution. But we do not have degree institution information for these authors.
Some policy questions:
1. Should we proactively try to obtain degree institutions from OpenReview/ORCID profiles?
2. Should we make it a goal to preserve redirects so that https://aclanthology.org/people/ziyi-zhang-4925 will continue to work if a human-readable suffix replaces `4925`?
3. When we acquire degree information in the course of author verification requests, should we immediately change the suffix? Or only if the author asks us to?
4. The degree suffix is an abbreviation of the degree institution name. Should we develop a mapping from institution names to suffixes so the conversion can be automated?
