Rewrite And Republish Changing URL and Slug

• I've searched for any related issues and avoided creating a duplicate issue.

Please give us a description of what happened

I did the command REWRITE AND REPUBLISH on all pages of my website. A few days later I noticed a number at the end of the page name. For example, this page is supposed to be this url:
https://clearcutpestcontrol.com/cockroaches
Instead, THIS is what has been created:

Note the number 4 at the end of the url.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

1. Clicked rewrite and republish
2. Changed the date of the publish to the current date.
3. Republish

Expected results

1. The date of the republish to change but the URL to remain the same.

Actual results

1. A new URL and Slug with a number at the end (for a version) is created. This is what google will be getting.

Start by reproducing the issue through the Rewrite and Republish command with a page whose publish date is changed, using the reported WordPress 6.4.1 and Yoast Duplicate Post 4.5 versions if available. Done means the republished page keeps its original URL and slug instead of receiving a numeric suffix.
