Description

Describe the bug
In the Xcodes app, clicking the “Privileged Helper” install button does not trigger the installation. Normally, a prompt should appear asking for the macOS account password, but the prompt does not appear and nothing happens.

To Reproduce

  1. Open the Xcodes app.
  2. Go to Preferences.
  3. Click on the “Install Privileged Helper” button.
  4. Notice that the macOS password prompt does not appear and the installation does not proceed.

Expected behavior
When clicking the “Install Privileged Helper” button, a macOS password prompt should appear. After entering the password, the installation should complete successfully.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the failure from the Xcodes Preferences screen using the “Install Privileged Helper” button, and inspect the installation entry point it triggers. Done means the macOS account-password prompt appears and the privileged helper installation completes successfully.
