Description
Tell us how we can improve Xcodes
Download and extract standalone apps from contents/applications of the xcode package.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Certain apps such as FileMerge are very useful and lightweight, but are not contained in Xcode CLI Tools. Several GB download/install footprint for Xcode is not helpful.
In addition, extraction of different app versions such as Simulator could prove useful for some edge use cases while reducing the install footprint. Different versions of Simulator etc will likely run using slightly older binaries.
What would you like to see? How would you like it to work?
Leave to developer choice, above may not be possible and is just an idea that could be of benefit.

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First inspect the XcodesApp download and extraction flow and the contents/applications layout of Xcode packages, then define which standalone apps and versions are supported and verify that the selected apps can be extracted without the full installation.
