Description

For the 2023 Hugos, Camestros Felapton and Heather Rose Jones ran some statistical analysis on the results.

Would it be feasible to add some or all of their statistical tests to NomNom?

The idea would be to alert administrators to possible problems (or even bugs) before results go out, and to provide an extra set of checks for transparency, kind of like an audit.

I haven’t discussed this with CF or HRJ; I don’t know how they would feel about providing their tools and expertise for this. But if you think it’s a good idea, I could ask them.

Research direction

Start by reading the linked analysis of the 2023 Hugos and identifying which statistical tests could be adapted. Then clarify the desired test set, inputs, administrator alerts, and transparency output with the maintainers and the referenced authors. Done would require an agreed scope and an implemented, validated audit/checking workflow.
