Description
Bug Description
This plugin breaks WPML Media Translation when it is active. If you upload a translated image, it won’t appear on the front end. Everything works great when you deactivate Modern Image Formats.
I’ve already contacted WPML support, and they are willing to work with you to fix this bug and certify that this plugin is compatible with WPML.
Steps to reproduce
- Enable WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML Media Translation
- Upload an image in original language and add it to a post
- Translate the post with WPML and publish it
- Go to WPML > Media Translation
- Upload the translated image
- Go to the frontend and visit the translated version of the post you've created before
- The translated image won't show, it will display the image in the original language
Additional Context
- PHP Version: 8.2
- Plugin Version: 2.6.0

Research direction
Reproduce the issue with WPML Multilingual CMS, WPML Media Translation, and Modern Image Formats using the listed upload and translated-post steps. Start by tracing how the plugin handles the translated image on the frontend. Done means the translated image appears on the translated post while Modern Image Formats remains active.
